CASA Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) Training
Extend your operations, with immediately accessible EVLOS Operations. Once approved on your ReOC, no further applications to CASA needed. You can execute these missions exactly when you need to.
EVLOS Pilot Training
Dronestar™ EVLOS course teaches you everything you need to know about operations Beyond the Pilot's Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), by using observers either with the Pilot (EVLOS 1) or located at locations along the flight path (EVLOS 2). In EVLOS flight, either the PIC or a trained observer must be able to visually see, and orientate the aircraft at any time.
In our course, we take you beyond your visual line of sight and teach you how to hand-over and trust a trained observer whilst you are BVLOS. The course has 2 components. Pilot and Observer training, and is run usually over 1-2 days, as a private delivery at your place.
EVLOS Observer Training
EVLOS Observers play a critical role in EVLOS flight, as they are essentially 'visually' in control of the aircraft whilst the Pilot is BVLOS. At Dronestar™, we teach you the radio procedures to hand over, and had back the aircraft during flight. We have a number of numbers of exercises we complete including remote take-off and landing, emergency procedures, decent, deconflict and landing and remote battery changes.
By the end of this course, both Pilot and Observer will be confident in BVLOS flight operating under EVLOS flight rules.
All EVLOS operations have certain pre-requisites. EVLOS cannot be approved unless operating under a ReOC. Pilots must hold either the CASA ReB1 BVLOS OCTA exam pass or the CASA Instrument Rating Exam (IREX) in order to be Pilot In Charge of an aircraft being flown BVLOS. The only exception there, is for the ReOC holder to have a pilot listed on their ReOC who 'does' hold a relevant qualification, and who would operate as a member of the team flying the relevant EVLOS operation. We are able to do this for you holding both the CASA IREX and also the CASA BVLOS exam. We can also issue your EVLOS procedures for inclusion in your Operations Manual prior to your EVLOS significant variation application submission. We can of course, assist with all of this for you. Just ask.
